    CALL FOR AUTHORS

Call for Authors: SAH WiA AG & SAH Archipedia Publication Project on the Work of Women Architects

In anticipation of the annual program, March 2022: SAH WIA AG Celebrates Women’s History Month, SAH Archipedia editors and the SAH Women in Architecture Affiliate Group are collaborating on a publication project to highlight the work of women architects. We are seeking contributors to write building entries for sites designed and/or built by women, as well as significant sites related to women’s history.

Proposed building entries should be for extant sites and consist of an approximately 500-word essay in addition to a short bibliography, at least one illustration, geographic coordinates, and corresponding metadata (building type, materials, style or period, and architect name). If you are interested in participating in this initiative, please contact SAH Archipedia Managing Editor Catherine Boland Erkkila (cerkkila@sah.org). All entries will be peer reviewed. Submissions will be due in November for a March publication date.

SAH Archipedia is an authoritative, open-access encyclopedia of the U.S. built environment organized by the Society of Architectural Historians and the University of Virginia Press. The  SAH Women in Architecture Affiliate Group  (SAH WiA AG) was organized on June 10, 2020. The mission of the Group is to support the breadth of interests of SAH members, to advocate the contribution of women in architecture, to champion the cause of gender equality across borders and the progressive knowledge in the integral field of the built environment.
