    From Paula Lupkin:

    HIG Folk,

HIG\’s Emerging Scholars Symposium on Digital Interiors, concluded on Friday June 17, was brilliantly conceived, organized, and led by Lauren Drapala, Laura Jenkins, Vanessa Vanden Berghe and Michelle Jackson-Bennett. Recordings of both panels are now available for viewing through the SAH Connects website.

The symposium offered HIG members and the public a glimpse of the future of our field and fostered a sense of community and network among the international participants.
Two panels offered cutting edge case-studies using digital resources including virtual reality, GIS, 3-D modeling, and other methods.  Robust discussion identified the possibilities of this new approach as well as the challenges it offers to established concepts of evidence, authenticity, and method in interiors history.

The symposium also contributed to an ongoing dialogue in the world of design history. In addition to our own Emerging Scholars Symposium two other organizations are sponsoring programs in the field of digital humanities and architecture:

SAH\’s Women in Architecture Affiliate Group has organized a virtual roundtable with Carleton University as part of its Student Mentoring Program, \”Digital Humanities in Architectural History.\” On June 28th  Archipedia editors Gabrielle Esperdy and Catherine Boland-Erkkila will speak on SAH\’s own ongoing digital projects.
